Our Mission and Vision
Stitched Narratives Recovery is dedicated to translating the psychology of addiction into language everyone can understand, while honoring the lived stories of those in recovery.
Through education, advocacy, and resource connection, we aim to support individuals at every stage of recovery and contribute to a future where compassionate, evidence-based care is accessible to all.
A Letter from the Founder
Stitched Narratives Recovery exists because I have lost too many people I love to addiction—and because I survived it myself.
My clean date is March 9, 2022. I struggled for years with heroin, fentanyl, and crack. So did my husband and our best friend. We know what it means to want out and not know where to turn—and we carry the grief of those who didn’t make it.
This project began as a final-year college assignment—a small attempt to gather clear, understandable information in one place. What started as a simple Facebook group grew across platforms and eventually into this site.
I created Stitched Narratives because addiction should never be reduced to shame, silence, or statistics. When I first looked for help, resources were scattered and hard to navigate. People deserve information they can understand, stories that honor their humanity, and clear paths to real support.
Throughout the site, you’ll see three recurring symbols: books, dragons, and unicorns.
Books represent our lives—chapters filled with meaning, even the painful ones.
Dragons represent addiction: powerful, dangerous, and not something that can be tamed—only respected and managed.
Unicorns represent the pink cloud—the moments when sobriety feels light, hopeful, and almost magical.
Recovery doesn’t erase the past. It stitches it into something stronger.
If you’re here seeking help, loving someone who is struggling, or rebuilding your life, know this: your story isn’t over. Every chapter still matters.
Recovery can keep the book open a little longer.

Our Values
Human Dignity
Every person is more than their substance use. We honor the inherent worth of all individuals, regardless of where they are in their recovery journey.
Lived Experience Matters
Recovery knowledge is not held only in textbooks. The voices of people in recovery are essential sources of insight, wisdom, and hope.
Psychology, Made Human
We believe psychological science should be accurate and accessible. Education is most powerful when it can be understood, felt, and applied in real life.
Compassion Over Judgment
Stigma harms recovery. We approach addiction with empathy, curiosity, and respect—not moralism or shame.
Connection Saves Lives
Isolation fuels addiction; connection supports healing. We work to bridge people to resources, community, and understanding.
Integrity & Responsibility
We share information responsibly, ethically, and transparently, grounded in research while remaining responsive to real human needs.
